14 Jan 2007 - Under 8s Vs Old Richians

Back from the Xmas break this was the time the players had picked up the rugby ball.

Berry Hill had a good turn out of players (15) whereas Old Richians had 8, it was therefore agreed that we would play two games with our older / more experienced players in the first and our younger, smaller players with a couple of older hands in the second.

In the first game each team was equally matched. By half time the score was 4 tries a piece. Both teams displayed some very strong attacking rugby as well as hearty defence.

In the second half Old Richians continued in the same manner whereas Berry Hill took their feet of the gas, which resulted in a full time score of 4-7 to Old Richians.

James, a new player to Berry Hill had a great game on his debut, so well done and a big welcome to him at Berry Hill.

After a 5 minute break the Old Richians were all set to take on the Berry Hill second 7. It was clear from the start that Old Richians had a lot more experience when matched against the Berry Hill team. However both teams displayed some great attacking rugby.

The score reflects the Old Richians strength in defence as they won turnover ball several times on their own line.  This, added with some excellent opportunity breakaways meant that the full time score in the second game was 1-7 to Old Richians.

It is worth noting that the Berry Hill try was scored by Connor in his first game, so well done to him.
